Offshore & Survey etc

Vessels of all types working in the offshore sector visit the port from time to time. Some to lay over and take on stores etc and others arrive to work in the
port. Below are a few images of some of them.

Owners take delivery of their RT18 ‘Dual Crane’
18m x 8m Road Transportable Meercat Workboat

The latest Meercat to leave our facility has just completed her inaugural sea passage from
Portsmouth to Dover. Her new Owners, Topbond plc, will be wasting no time in putting her to work. Her first assignment will be Windfarm support and civil engineering work in the Thames
estuary.

With twin 40 t/m cranes, an 8 tonne deck winch and 47 tonnes of liquid or dry cargo
payload, this superb multi-role workboat boasts impressive capabilities, all deliverable in under a metre of water!

Port of London Authority  hydrographic survey vessel and port tender Yantlet at work in the outer harbour conducting a tidal survey for the Port of
Dover. She is a Nelson 44 catamaran built by Souter Marine in 1995 and has a displacement tonnage of 18.5 tonnes. Port dredger the David Church is dredging close to the Eastern Entrance as the Dover
Seaways makes her afternoon arrival.

The Research Vessel Cefas Endeavour is berthed at the Cruise Terminal on Sunday 27th April 2014. She is an interesting ocean going vessel operated by the
Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS), bit of a mouthful that! Normally based at the port of Lowestoft she is owned by P&O Maritime Services and carries out fish stock
surveys, oil and gas research work and telecommunication, geophysical and hydrographic surveys. She has recently been conducting survey work around the Goodwin Sands in the
channel.

Floating cranes GPS Atlas and GPS Apollo make their way across the harbour to position the link span on berth 6 under the watchful eye of Riley Marine’s Dover Grafter. Full story on

Emergency Towing Vessel Anglian Monarch

Owned by Klyne Tugs, the ETV Anglian Monarch was a regular caller at the port when on standby duty in the English Channel. She is pictured here alongside the
cruise terminal in 2010. She had a convivial crew who, subject to operational requirements, were always happy to show people around. As a result of government cutbacks the service has now been
withdrawn.

Vroon Shipping support vessel Oil Express alongside Cruise Terminal 2 in 2010.

Fleet running mate to the Grafter (above) is Dover Worker, pictured here rounding the Prince of Wales pier and returning to her berth after standing by the
current Number 2 Berth refurbishment.

05.12.13 The 1991 built survey vessel Sea Vigil in the Wellington Dock. Owned and operated by Briggs Marine and has been chartered by the Environment Agency
for a wide range of survey work. She is currently available for sale due to new replacement multicat vessels added to the fleet. It is understood that there are several interested potential
buyers in this tough, no nonsense, versatile little vessel.

Another Briggs Marine vessel, the tug Forth Drummer. She is pictured alongside the David Church, in the tug haven during 2010 when she deputised at Dover
during a refit of DHB Dauntless.

For a full specification of this hardy little tug visit the Briggs website:

Jenkins Marine of Poole, Dorset kept their tug Glenesk busy in 2012 during redevelopment works in the Eastern Docks at No. 3 berth. She is seen here moving
the jack up crane barge Atlas back to the “Hydrofoil” basin after another day’s work.

Another view of the Glenesk with the Atlas returning to their berth for the night.
