Sealink SNCF

A photograph of the Cote d’Azur operating without her bow visor following a collision on the 5th August 1982. In good visibility she collided with running mate the Chantilly about four
miles outside the port of Calais. It is true to say that the Chantilly fared worse than the year old Cote d’Azur. Both vessels were repaired at Dunkerque. As a temporary measure the Cote had her bow
visor removed and the watertight door behind it welded closed to enable her to continue operating on the Dover to Calais “Flagship” service but as a stern loader only until permanent repairs were put
in hand. She also operated on the route later in her career as Seafrance Renoir before being withdrawn. After a lengthy lay-up in Dunkerque she was renamed Eastern Light and sold to Belize interests.
This however turned out to be a false flag exercise and she met her demise at the breakers on the beach at Alang, India.

The Nord Pas De Calais seen departing from Dover in 1988 entered service as a multi-purpose freight vehicle an rail ferry on the 12th December 1987. She
operated from the train fery dock, Dover to Dunkerque until the service ceased in 1995. From the following year she operated as a roro ship carrying freight vehicles that were unable
to use the channel tunnel for safety reasons. She has had a chequered career, operating at different periods for SNAT, SNCF, Seafrance and currently for My Ferry Link, after she was
purchased by Eurotunnel and chartered back to the co-operative of former Seafrance employees (SCOP).

1984 and the elderly Saint Germain arrives from Dunkerque and heads to the train ferry dock, passes the St Anselm laying over on the Admiralty Pier in the
evening sunshine.

Sealink SNCF’s Chantilly arrives at the Western Docks. Built in 1966 she served until 1984 before being withdrawn from service.
